Amanda Beard Shares Her Love Of Swimming, Family and Babo!
When did you start swimming?
I started swimming in a mommy and me class when I was just 6 months old,but I didn't start swimming on a team until I was 4 years old.
What was your motivation or what compelled you to try out for the Olympics?
I was 10 years old watching the 1992 Olympic Games and saw a swimmer named Summer Sanders and decided at that moment I was going to become an Olympic swimmer just like her. My parents giggled at the idea, but I was one determined little girl. By the age of 14, I was competing at my 1st Olympic Games.

What do your little ones think of their mom being an Olympic Champion?
My 9-year-old son, Blaise, thinks its really cool when I come to his school to talk to his class and show off my medals. My daughter, Doone, is 5 years old and still thinks she is better at swimming than I am lol.
How are your kids involved in the swim school?
My children come to the swim school mostly when we are closed and use it as their own personal swimming pool. They always want to join in the group lessons when we are open too. They think all of our instructors are so amazing and beg me to swim with them!
What is your current workout routine?
Right now I am doing my own workout routine in my garage with Kettlebells, a Bosu ball, medicine balls, an INDO board, and a lot of body weight stuff. I try and jump in our pool at least 3 days a week and swim for about an hour.
Did you swim while you were expecting?
I did swim while I was pregnant and loved it! We had a pool in our backyard, which made it very easy to get my workout in.
How and when did you did you first discover Babo Botanicals?
I searched the internet for the best products and came across Babo, I received some sample items and immediately fell in love with the products. I am definitely a sunscreen snob and loved how great the coverage was.
What do you recommend to help skin and hair that is dehydrated from chlorine? The best thing I have found to be helpful is to get products that work and use them often! I do not skimp with moisturizer or conditioner.
